Description
The Kappa Omicron Nu, founded at Iowa State May 1913, is a national honor society dedicated to recognizing and encouraging excellence in scholarship, research, and leadership development. Membership in Kappa Omicron Nu is the highest scholastic honor attainable in the area of family and consumer sciences.

Undergraduates: 3.0 GPA, top 25% of class, 45 credit hours, majors in AMDP; CH FS; D EX; DIET; ECE; FCEDS; FFHP; FS; HRI; or NS.
Graduate students: 3.5 GPA, completed 12 credit hours, D EX; FCS; FCSED; FS; FLM; HDFS; NUTR; or TC.

Desc. of Regular Meetings/Activities
The chapter meets monthly for educational, motivational and social activities. Programming is planned by the executive committee to meet the professional needs of the membership. A service activity is performed in fall semester. Initiation is held in spring semester.

About: Initiation of New Members - Formal initation is held in spring semester for new members. Invited guests include family members and friends of new initiates. Greetings are extended by the College of Human Sciences and a prominent member of the profession gives the charge to the candidates. Frequency: Yearly Est. Attendance: 30 members, 150 non-members
